Type of Position: Full-Time, Year Round and Permanent

Wage: Between $25.00 to $34.00 per hour based training and experience

Credentials: High School Diploma and Vocational Training or Certificate and Commercial Driver’s license (DZ/AZ or ARZ)

Experience: 2 years or more

Locations of Employment: 152 Moonstone Road, Carp, Ontario K0A 1L0 and surrounding areas

throughout the west end of Ottawa including Stittsville, Carp and within the National Capital Region

Hours of Work: 40 to 60 hours per week from early morning to early evening

Own Tools Required: Steel toe safety boots

Ottawa Valley Tree Experts is looking to hire experienced Arborists. Competitive wages based on position and experience

Skills and Experience Required:

• Must possess tree and plant knowledge have the experience in plant and tree identification
• Experience in professional tree climbing and ability to climb trees using ropes, harnesses and climb ladders to access work areas
• Ability to examine trees to diagnose problems and disease and carry out various treatments such as pruning and repairing damaged areas
• Pruning, trimming and shaping trees to enhance their appearance, health, value and to prevent interference with buildings and utilities
• Ability to cut and prune trees from trees, treetops and commercial vehicles equipped with elevation equipment and hoists in accordance with industry practices
• Ability to perform tree trimming and removal from extreme heights and in aerial settings using ropes, harnesses, ladders or other support structures
• Experience operating chainsaws, brush-cutters, rigging, lowering devices, chippers, stump grinders and other industry equipment
• Experience maintaining tools and machinery
• Ability to cut out dead, low hanging and undesirable limbs
• Ability to carry out tree removal and stump grinding
• Ability to oversee and manage daily crew
• Ability to perform grounds man duties as required
• Must be able perform strenuous work, repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, bending crouching and kneeling
• Dedication to maintaining safety standards and safe work environment for entire crew
• Must be organized, have excellent oral communication skills and be able to prepare clear written reports documenting completion of projects or services
• Must be able to operate commercial vehicles and have valid commercial driver’s license (DZ/AZ or ARZ) and clean abstract
• A good work ethic, team player and have effective interpersonal skills
• ISA Certified Arborist preferred
• Arboriculturists Trade Certification
• An apprenticeship program is available for Arboriculturists
